Drabble Challenge #17 [Alternate]

Prompt: quiver

related to Maternity


Her hand rested lightly on her slightly swollen belly. When will I feel you, Little Baby? she wondered for the hundredth time.

She had talked with her midwife and read books, but she was still unsure she would know the quivering, quickening sensation when she felt it. Will I think it’s only gas, she giggled, or one of my internal organs you’re pushing aside? How will I KNOW???

She dozed for awhile, lying in the darkened bedroom. In her dreams she saw her bright-eyed child.

Then she felt it, a slight flutter. Like butterfly wings! she smiled.

And she knew…
