Drabble Challenge #2 [Alternate]

Prompt: defying gravity

We left Kansas City early in the morning of July nineteenth. It was a Wednesday morning in the middle of a Midwest summer, so there was moderate traffic on I-70 as we headed toward St Louis.

"Bye-bye, Hicktown!" Brian grinned and blew his car’s ‘a-ooga’ horn, as we passed the Noland Road exit.

I waved my arm out the window and whooped; "And HELLO to adventure!"

He pushed an eight-track into the player and the Bee Gee’s "Stayin’ Alive" burst from the speakers as his trusty Monte Carlo picked up speed.

We were leaving our lives behind, creating new ones.
