“Matt, I’ve been thinking,” Charlie said as he worked his hands, trying to stretch the duct-tape that bound him to his chair.
“What about,” Matt replied from the floor, where he was tied, hand and foot.
Charlie stopped struggling for a minute and said, “How nice it would be if some things were just a little bit different.”
“Like what,” Matt asked as he spit at a rat that was getting too close to his personal space.
“How nice it would be if we’d ever get a client that didn’t try to double-cross us,” Charlie said with a sad smile.
