"I'm not running because I'm scared," Matt insisted, as he sped through the thick jungle undergrowth.
"I'm not either."
"You're not scared?"
"I'm terrified," Charlie admitted, "that's just not why I'm running."
They ran on in silence, with Matt periodically zigging or zagging, and Charlie struggling to keep up.
"Do you know where you're going?" Charlie asked.
"Yeah, I didn't think so."
"If you're so sure I don't know where I'm going, why are you still following me?"
"Because, as far as I'm concerned, any direction that takes us further away from the mapinguari is the right direction."
