On the drive back to their office in Matt’s beat up old truck, Charlie was leaning over fiddling with Matt’s radio in direct defiance to Rule #8.
“Just leave my radio alone,” Matt snapped, “you know the rules.”
“Sorry,” Charlie said as he sat back, “but Belford caved way too quickly to all our demands. Do you really think he’s going to keep his word?”
“No,” Matt answered, “which is why I pushed for these really large upfront retainer fees.”
“Are these checks any good?” Charlie asked.
“Not sure,” Matt said, “which is why our first stop is the bank.”
