The bloody footprints scream out a warning! I feel no pain but know something is dreadfully wrong. Once again, the flesh has broken down and a huge chunk is missing from the inside of my toe. As the blood continues to flow, I get ready for another trip to the Emergency room.
"Mr. Davis," the doctor begins, "Your glucose level is 412 and you have a badly ulcerated toe."
The treatment begins. A shot of insulin, Betadine soak, and antibiotics.
As I leave, I say thank you to the doctors and nurses that I have grown to know so well.
