"Why are their eyes moving like that?"

"Their brains don't work like ours, so we engineered them to process and organise information during sleep."

"Sounds horrible."

"They're unconscious. They'll never even know it's happening."

"What if they were aware? What would they experience?"

"I'm not sure... Most likely their brains would try to create a narrative around the data."

"Can you imagine how disorienting that would be?"

"Maybe, but there's no way they're conscious."

"Are you sure?"

"As sure as we can be."
