Drabble Challenge #10 [Alternate]

Prompt: reflection

He leaned close over the casket, his tie sliding across his grandfather’s best shirt. Low he bent, almost nose-to-nose and peered into Pawpaw’s sightless eyes. Deep and deeper he dove, until the past came into focus. From Pawpaw’s eyes he watched and re-lived his past. He experienced the goods and bads and just-alrights. He finally knew Pawpaw’s family and laughed and laughed and cried and cursed with them. Through it all he learned that all are flawed, but still worthwhile. He decided it was time to leave when he saw his own birth and stepped aside for the next lamenter.
