Charlie huddled miserably in the stark interrogation room, handcuffed to the blocky, heavy metal chair. As he waited for the detective to finish reading his file, he used his toe to worry the steel bolt that fastened the chair to the floor.
Detective Poulson pushed a large crime scene photo across the table to Charlie and said, “So, you admit that you helped Matt Wilder shoot John Slaton in the face with a 12-gauge shotgun.”
“I believe the autopsy will reveal that Mr. Slaton had been dead three days before Matt shot him,” Charlie said in a small, intimidated voice.
