Drabble Challenge #5 [Alternate]

Prompt: passages

part 30 of the Expanded Blue Mountain Stories series: Blue Mountain

The verdant path to Tsuwa’tel’da lead to a dark cave upon the crest of Usaee-Neya Mountain. The path was not wide, no more than five feet, but no weeds grew there and no tree branched across it. Awinita and Jonas followed their guide, an extraordinary beautiful Tsiligi-seeming woman, who walked with the proud strut of a Long-hair.

“The passage to Tsuwa’tel’da,” Awinita asked. “Why is it not guarded against the English and the French?”

The guide with her fierce eyes replied, “None can enter unless the Nunne’hi guide them, Dancer.”

“So it is safe?”

“Always and forever,” the Nunne’hi answered.
