Drabble Challenge #100

Prompt: century

“Who’s on today’s schedule?” the warden asked.

“Just one, sir – ‘Slasher’ Jenkins. One century in suspension.”

“Okay, thaw him out.”

A few taps on the touchpad, and ten minutes later the inmate is standing before the warden.

“What year is this?” Jenkins asked.

“It’s 2368. You are free to go.”

“Go? Where? Everyone I know is dead. How am I supposed to live?”

“That’s for you to figure out.”

Jenkins suddenly lunged at the warden and grabbed his throat. “You figure THIS out!” he hissed.

Two guards pulled Jenkins back. “You just earned another 50 years in suspension.”

Jenkins smiled.
