Space is the Place

"Space is the Place" is a film and jazz piece composed by cosmic musician Sun Ra. Sun Ra claimed to be from Saturn, dressing in conical hats and silk robes decorated with stars and planets.

The film chronicled Sun Ra and his band, the Arkestra, endeavoring to transport people to other planets with the power of music. I had hoped to have my own cosmic experience when I saw them play in the early 90's. Unfortunately, he'd just had a stroke. All he could do was stiffly play keyboards while someone else led the band. He died in 1993.
