Drabble Challenge #120

Prompt: murder

The invention of teleportation changed everything.

For 17 years, time and distance have no longer been an issue. Live where you want; work where you want. And leave only moments before you have to be there.

Then someone discovered the truth: It's not actually teleportation at all; it's duplication. Every time you use it, you're copied, at the molecular level... and then destroyed.

This should've marked the end, but it didn't.

There was a small, very vocal, expression of outrage, and a failed attempt to make it illegal.

In the end though, the lure of convenience was simply too powerful.
