Cyrano de Allen, Scene II

Matt waited uncomfortably outside the Ladies Room, sledge-hammer resting on his shoulder as Charlie harangued him.

“How could you do it,” Charlie whispered, hurt dripping from his voice.

“I didn’t do anything,” Matt answered.

“You know I like her,” Charlie hissed.

“I’m just trying to protect her, you, and me,” Matt replied.

“I protected her, didn’t I?” Charlie stated.

“Yes,” Matt responded, “and I wing-manned you, didn’t I.”

“Yeah,” Charlie said, mollified.

At that moment, Carol walked out of the restroom just as a zombie lurched around the corner. Matt dropped it with one blow.

“Oh God, Matt,” Carol gushed.
