Drabble Challenge #21 [Alternate]

Prompt: shattered

The Collector led his guests through the vast storeroom, carefully going over each display.

"The bowl of too-cold porridge, with stale bread... The badge of the sheriff that was shot in the famous song..."

"Where'd you get that?"

"From the deputy, but he's never given up the chase... Wax from Icarus's wings, when he flew too close to the sun... A fragment of the painting of Dorian Gray... A bunch of never-before-seen letters from Jonathan Harker... A traffic cone from Milo's tollbooth... And Van Gogh's ear!"

"That's not fictional."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah."

"Well, that was a waste of money."
