On a cold December day and only a few days before Christmas:
“You mean you still believe in Santa!?” the cute little girl giggles.
The rest of the family join in the laughter, while I sit in disbelief.
“Yeah, don't you?” I respond.
This sweet nine year old girl, with no ill will intended, breaks out into hard laughter and the rest of the family follow suit.
Mortified from embarrassment, I get up from the table without saying another word, afraid that I might make the laughter even worse. I run to my room, shut the door, and cry silently.
