Drabble Challenge #28

Prompt: change

part 4 of the series: 10 PH: Drabbles on Post-Human History

I watch these young beings aspire to be the next generation of Humans--holding on to the Old Values of materialism, aggression, superficial showmanship. Perhaps they will succeed where the old ones had failed: in fully destroying the planet.

It's mind-boggling, that the past generation has become folk heroes of a sort; the adults look on blandly whilst children play "Bombers and Foot-warriors". Still more worrisome is my own nephew--who has stopped taking his empathy injections, and saved his allowance for a 1:20 working replica of a nuclear reactor.

Some things never change...no matter how desperately they should.
