Drabble Challenge #33

Prompt: buried treasure

I look across the field of weeds. It's not visible now, but there used to be a garden here and beyond that, a house.

In the corner is a large domelike rock. With some difficulty, I flip it over, exposing a patch of moist earth. I plough my fingers into the dirt, revealing a small box.

Reverently, I remove the lid and take out the artefacts, one at a time, gazing at them lovingly before placing them back inside. Then I close and rebury the box, and replace the heavy cover-stone.

I walk away, clinging to my priceless, intangible treasure.
