Drabble Challenge #42

Prompt: key

The surgeon entered the waiting room. The anxious parents stood up.

“Will he be all right?” the father asked.

“Yes,” the surgeon replied, smiling. “Everything went perfectly.”

The mother breathed a sigh of relief. “Thank you. This really means a lot to us.”

“My daughter had the same operation,” the surgeon said. “He’ll be fine.”

“And the implant? Does he --”

“No, of course not,” came the reply. “He has no clue you can now switch his mind on and off.”

Reaching into his pocket, the surgeon then said, “And since I’m thinking about it, here are the keys.”
