Drabble Challenge #43

Prompt: take-off

part 5 of the Savannah Sonnets series: Savannah Sonnets

"The temperature is WHAT?" I asked, aghast.

"It just said 92 on the Weather Channel…" he grinned sheepishly.

"And the heat index?" I wondered, bracing myself.

"Uh, that’s 105… the humidity is 62%." he revealed.

"But it’s just past NOON! How bad is it supposed to get today?"

"Well… they may be wrong," he began, "but they’re predicting 97… Kinda warm, but it IS August…"

"Yesterday all I wore were that short skirt and halter top, but I was already sweating before we’d gone half a block" I wailed. "What can I take off today?"

"Maybe your skin?" he chuckled.
