Drabble Challenge #47 [Alternate]

Prompt: conflicted

"You really think you can fool somebody with an old postcard and a dark, blurry photograph?"

"To keep a roof over our heads, I have to. We've tread water too long; it's either sink or swim."

"I read your notes, and got a headache trying to keep the sequence of events straight."

"I have them memorised."

"Don't you think it's wrong?"

"I'm not hurting anyone."

"Convincing a dying man you're his long-lost son?"

"He's been searching for years. In that respect, I'm helping him."

"You can't believe that!"

"No... but it's the only way I can go through with it."
