Punishment

Matt and Charlie sat in the cell and waited on their court appointed attorney. Charlie glanced at Matt and said, “Do you think the detective believed our story?”

“I fed him a lot of line, I just hope he took the bait,” Matt replied.

“You did lure him in with a good story,” Charlie acknowledged.

“It is sorta fishy,” Matt quibbled.

“But letting us go means that he can go after the Big Bass,” Charlie said.

“Yeah, were just small fry,” Matt agreed.

“He was acting a little crabby at the end,” Charlie said.

“Then we’ll clam up,” Matt answered.
