Drabble Challenge #68

Prompt: abandon

He was the pride of her life, so brilliant and strong, ready to take on the world single-handedly. She dreamed of his future, bright with opportunities far beyond her simple life.

And then in a flash, that dream was gone.

She mourned for him then, as did other family and friends. The years have slowly passed, and everyone else has moved on with their lives, as well they should; but, she has never abandoned her vigil, and mourns for him still. Her dreams now are filled with a wistfulness and longing for him and the future he might have lived.
