“Aren’t you afraid?” Little Tree asked.
“Of what?” Pappa Oak asked.
“Of being so big and tall! What if you fall?”
Pappa laughed. “You musn’t fear being great.”
“But, if I stay a little tree, the others will protect me.”
“Did you know, Little Tree, that I once had a sister? One day, Wind blew her right into my branches, and I held her there, slowly watching her life pass - right into others.
“She gave homes to animals, insects, moss and vines. Why, your very roots thrive in her detritus.
"Remember that life begets life, only. Even, in death.”
