Today Is Yesterday

In the wee hours, somewhere between today and tomorrow, his thoughts begin wandering. Today’s world and yesterday’s fairy tales meld, creating vividly bizarre images only his mind’s eye can see. He becomes the hero, slaying the dragon with – a paperclip? Riding into battle on a mighty warhorse while his opponent…drives a car? Too crazy, he thinks, and stumbles to bed.

He rises with the morning light. A room of stone and the sound of hooves confuse him. “Where am I?”

Suddenly a young man bursts in. “My Lord, you must hurry! Our enemies bring a mighty army against us!”
