Drabble Challenge #84

Prompt: storm

“Captain, this storm’s too much,” yells the first mate. “We don’t know our position anymore.”

The captain thinks, “There must be a landmark out there, but how will we see it in this blow?”

Another crewman yells, “Look, there’s a light off the starboard rail!”

“That must be Old Hanford Light,” says the captain. “Get a fix on that light – it’ll keep us off the rocks.”

“Aye, sir!”

After arriving safely in port, the captain tells the harbormaster about their good fortune.

“That’s impossible. The Old Hanford Lighthouse was blown down in a nor’easter 20 years ago and never rebuilt.”
