You helped me believe in myself again
Convincing me that what I wanted mattered
You brought the spirit of play back into my life
Allowing my neglected ‘inner child’ to run free
You sharpened my creative abilities
Competing with you made me try harder
You gave me an accepting love
I could be all of ‘me,’ without fear of ridicule
You knew yourself and what you wanted from life
And showed me that ‘self-possession’ isn’t the same as ‘selfish’
You showed me by your example
Knowing you has left a permanent impression on my life
Thank you, my dear friend
