I’d go back to those days when I thought it was all still possible.
They were giddy times of newly-discovered possibility. It was the first blush of new love and we were each "in love with all we survey."
We each said that we had finally found "The One," even though neither had been looking. This elation made all our previous disappointments worth it. We were finally going to have OUR time, OUR life, OUR love!
I lie alone now in the dark, pining for all I lost; all I never really had.
And wish I had a time machine.
