Brushing her teeth, Darla ponders the unusual change in Benny. Though barely six months married, she knows her husband intimately. Or thought she did. He is jumpy lately. Dark circles under his eyes, rarely smiling.
Mouth refreshed, Darla digs under the sink, searching for her extra can of hairspray. Pulling out an unfamiliar duffel, her eyes widen. Panicked, she digs through zip ties, pliers and razor blade packets. Toothpicks, matches and lighter fluid. A can of oven cleaner. Underneath everything, a photo of his boss Marlene.
"Oh Benny, I thought you had all that behind you" is her horrified whisper.
