They taught her to be afraid of strangers, to be wary of anyone too different, and to avoid dangerous places. She lived in a good neighbourhood, but she had bars on her windows and extra locks on her doors, just in case.
Nobody warned her about her brother's best friend, with his curly blonde hair and charming smile. After all, people like him couldn't be dangerous.
He wasn't so charming, when he held her down. He didn't have a gun or a knife, just brute strength, and an unwillingness to take no for an answer.
