“What is this?” Met pulled a clanky, plastic-wrapped object out of the sand.
“Some sort of mechanical artifact,” Lou replied, unhelpfully.
“I know THAT! What did it DO?”
Lou took it, dusting it off. “Pretty sure it’s a drive.”
Met looked at him blankly.
“To a computer...?”
Met looked incredulous.
“Computers used to be physical.”
“What?”
“You didn’t pass Ancient History, did you? You might have a find. You could be famous! It might still work.”
Lou held the device up to his neural link, the little icon of a file appearing...opening...it read:
