Carolina Hurricanes

The area I live in North Carolina has seen its share of hurricanes. While I've been lucky enough to avoid any serious damage, I've known of people who weren't so lucky. After Hurricane Fran struck, a teenage girl found herself trapped in her bed when the oak tree next to her window toppled over. Tightly pinned, she couldn't escape her predicament, so she called her dad on her cell phone. He was sleeping downstairs.

A few years later, a hockey team formerly known as the Hartford Whalers relocated to Raleigh. It seemed appropriate that they rename themselves the Carolina Hurricanes.
