Drabble Challenge #58

Prompt: fool

Her eyes stung through the sweat as she stood and glared at the tombstone, its finality squatting on her heart and soul, squeezing her chest until finally, she erupted.

“I was a fool to take you in,” she hissed as her grieving blacks sopped up the sweat as it ran past her ears and down her taut neck.

“You were lazy, inconsiderate, and demanding,” she sobbed, “and worst of all, you left me here all alone.”

She knelt in the new turned earth, callous to the mud and moisture. She draped his favorite collar on the gravestone, unwilling to leave.
