Matt and Charlie hunkered down behind a fallen oak, the moonlight illuminating the glen in front of them. Their ears following the sounds of heavy paws slapping the earth as several creatures raced out of sight amongst the trees.
“Do you believe in God?” Charlie whispered to Matt.
“Yes,” Matt answered. “Why?”
“Do you think he loves us?” Charlie queried.
“He loves me,” Matt answered.
“What about me?” Charlie asked.
“Not so much.”
“Why?” Charlie said, alarmed.
“Remember when we were kids and you made the preacher cry?”
“That was you!” Charlie almost shouted.
“Preacher told God it was you.”
