I tried to disguise my sadness as Dad began to shamble through the lobby toward the waiting car.
Outside, the spring day beckoned. Fragrant hyacinths bloomed absurdly alongside the last patch of winter’s snow. The world was waking up. All was hope!
Inside though, the scene had been vastly different. Our remaining hopes dashed with the doctor's lecture. He assured us that Dad was stable, for now, but this disease’s progression was relentless.
I had to snap out of my growing depression, for Dad’s sake, for my sake.
We had to make the most of the time we had left.
