Non-Texter's Lament

If I wanted to write to you
I’d write
If I wanted to talk with you
I’d phone

I would choose ONE
Not try some kind of combo
Which is neither

And those abbreviations!
They’re reinforcing bad language habits

You may think
I’m pathetically behind the times
I’m intimidated by technology
Or maybe
I’m simply being stubborn

Truly, it’s none of those things

If it inconveniences you,
I’m sorry
But, if you really want
To communicate with me
You’ll take the time to call
Or send me an email

I do not DO texting,
And I don’t plan to start.
