Math Lesson

My high school math teacher was Mr. Hancock. He was known for his wit and uncanny ability to help students learn things they never thought possible. For example, in geometry he taught his classes how to easily remember the formulas for the area and circumference of a circle. He would say “Pie are square, but two pie are round.” This translated into the formulas for area (Pi times r [radius] squared) and circumference (two times Pi times r). It’s been over thirty years since then, but his words are as easy to remember as the day he first spoke them.
