Prompt: pause

part 3 of the series: King and Queen


Do not touch.
I did not need to ask; I already knew the answer.
Though his earthly shell was older than any other, he paid it no undue reverence...acknowledging it as merely a vehicle to navigate and interact on this planet. The real being lies beyond.

I sat before him, and reached out with my core.
A pause...then, the King extended himself out to meet me. My awareness collapsed gratefully into our stream.
I presented my offerings. Lastly: HER. The Queen.
Her whirling essence merged and danced with his own.
The King was pleased.

I had served well.
