Drabble Challenge #84 [Alternate]
Prompt: storm
I can barely tackle getting up each day
I pull the covers over my head
Trying to shut out the world
Each day, each month, each year
My disappointment deepens
When did my beautiful dream
Turn into this debt-ridden reality
Instead of reaching for the stars above
I only sit alone in my room
Emptying my grief into bad poetry
The gateway to my soul seems blocked
No companion, no colleague to clear the debris
An empty shell where my heart once was
My vibrancy forever petrified
I’ve turned to cold wood
There seems no escape from my self-imposed entrapment
