Drabble Challenge #117

Prompt: fearless

Nowadays, conventional wisdom suggests that being afraid is counterproductive...and perhaps that’s slowly becoming the case: where the imagined threats outnumber real ones, and fearlessness carries an adaptive advantage.

However, our biology still argues otherwise. We weren’t always the top predator—and we’re descended from the snacks that got away!

Back then, fear certainly had its place. Our successful ancestors had a healthy fear of their environment--and so, lived to see (and breed) another day.

From the perspective of these sacks of meat that carry our real selves around each day, no one should be fearless.

Fear is SURVIVAL.
