“Oh, I know! Did you hear the police describing the way everything shattered?”
“I sure did. I had no idea the bones in a face could do that.”

“I hope they catch that rotten daughter of hers.”
Josephine tried to lift her hand to her face, but her muscles failed. As her hand fell, her fingertips struck the bandages around her chin, sending a pain that shut her body down for good.
