Drabble Challenge #24

Prompt: don't panic

Don't panic, the little voice inside said.

My, that was helpful. Try not to think about a white horse.

"Tell you what," she muttered under her breath. "You make them both go away, and there'll be no NEED for panic. How's that for a deal?"

She stepped hesitantly out of the car.

The house was quiet.

Empty?

Would that be too much to ask?

Unbeknownst to her, both bodies lay still across the bedroom floor. The alcohol had finally won its war.

The gates of her well-known prison burst open...onto a rough, dark road, leading towards a better future.
