She didn’t notice the day the declarations of love failed to reach out from his core to wrap themselves around her heart. She didn’t notice his coming home later and later from work. She didn’t notice the greater than ever infrequency of his smiles directed at her. She didn’t notice the absence of his caresses. She didn’t notice his new habit of intentionally avoiding her. She didn’t notice that he had noticed.
