My Shadow

He’s been a figure in her life since she was only a girl. She’d loved him with such youthful enthusiasm then. He was the center of her world.

But childish infatuations must be put aside. As the girl grew into a woman she forced herself to move on. Still, he was always there on the fringes of her thoughts and actions.

She lovingly tucked his pictures away, retrieving them at times of crisis.

When faced with decisions she still wondered what he’d do, and what he would think of her now.

He is a loving shadow. She is never alone.
