Drabble Challenge #35

Prompt: anniversary

They're different; they don't colour between the lines--like you. They don't matter.

'Why value an out-group?' you say...forgetting this: to "Them", YOU are also a "Them".

So, you don't engage them. Don't bother to be someone they could catch their gears on.

Don't acknowledge, or make use of their talents.

Make them feel powerless and unheard. If they excel in ways you don't, ignore them...maybe they'll go away.

Maybe they won't.

Maybe they'll fly off like sparks, when life puts them to the grinder.

Then, once again, we can commemorate an anniversary that should never have happened.
