Drabble Challenge #39
Prompt: blackout
Please morning come quickly,
I pray as I try not to wake my sleeping partner.
I doze and I wake,
I toss and I turn,
First to one side,
And then to the other.
Sleep comes and sleep goes,
Please night become day.
I lie in the blackness,
I lie there in pain.
The pain is quite real,
In my body but also in my mind.
I want to scream out,
But I hold it in.
My partner deserves not to be drawn into my night.
A night of pain.
A night of much worry,
A night of great despair.
