When the lights came back on...she was gone.
The police question me, over and over. They're enraged by my silence, but this is all I know: when the lights came back on, she was gone.
She was 18 months old; we lived alone. I know how it looks. I don't expect to go "unpunished". But the truth is, I didn't DO anything.
Except...maybe...the book. The spells.
I wasn't concerned; they fear the light, and their fear made me feel safe.
It's all moot now.
I've disabled every circuit, and dusk is falling.
I'll see her again soon.
