It was exhilaratingly dark. I could smell nothing but the moist earth, lavender and her. Even without sight, my body, my entire body, shook with near sensory overload. I was dizzy with the intense volume of pure emotion I was feeling. Almost palpable was the love enveloped in trust, infused with respect, that lay gently placed between her heart and mine. We shared that feast and called it happiness. There on that beautifully damp moonless night, we knew one another.
As she carefully closed the now delicate notebook, she smiled at what had been, and would remain, her favorite passage.
