Drabble Challenge #56 [Alternate]

Prompt: pi/pie

"Thanks for teaching me to make pie crusts, Nana," the young man said, smiling warmly at his grandmother. "I’ve always wondered why yours are better than anyone else’s."

"Oh, it’s easy!" the older woman assured him. "All you need are flour, Crisco, water, and a little salt."

"That sounds pretty easy," he replied as she opened the blue canister.

"You need one cup of flour," she explained earnestly, "but if you’re using a half-cup measuring cup, you’ll have to fill it twice."

It was all he could do to keep from laughing… or crying.

"I love you, Nana!" he said.
