Evangeline believed in kindness to strangers. Any stranger was possibly an angel, walking the Earth, helping wherever needed. How she longed to meet one of those celestial beings!
Walking home, Evangeline contemplated her ordinary life. "Angels, I would love some company today," she said with a sigh.
Shoved from behind, Evangeline stumbled forward. A car, barely missing her, roared past. Looking back, a ragged homeless lady shuffled curbside. Glancing up, kind, gentle eyes locked with Evangeline's. Bending to pick up her purse, she turned to look again. The lady had vanished. Shrugging, Evangeline continued on, lost again in her thoughts.
